Letters to the Editor: Well, Well, Well? Why you Should ALL Vote

September 10, 2013

In the “better late than never” category, I’d like to comment on Randy Clark’s editorial on July 6, 2013 right here on Cornwall-on-Hudson.com. What’s mind blowing, is that no one responded to it.

Mr. Clark, a Cornwall Councilman, expressed concern over the fact that a major water pipe is coming through our area . I will add the fact that it is almost twice the size of the one that was approved . I guess that would make it illegal. It will pump 18 thousands of gallons of water a minute (instead of the 10,000 gallons a minute that was “legally approved”.)

Randy Clark wrote : “We must act and we have to act NOW to protect ourselves and our precious water rights for the future of this community. The history of this project, and its potential effects on the water supply of the surrounding wells, our surrounding communities, the impact on the environment and wastewater issue is something every property owner should be aware of.Woodbury hired special counsel for this. Cornwall should, too. In addition, contact your local, legislative and state representatives and ask them what steps they are taking to represent you, and to protect Cornwall and the surrounding communities.”

Fact: There IS a large well in Mountainville. It WAS Cornwall’s. It is no longer. It was given up years ago.

Search “KJ Pipeline” via Google if you’d like to read more.

This should concern you.

How does this relate to voting? In every way possible.

Those who vote, decide how your tax dollars are spent.

I urge you to vote today . Make the time. Vote during EVERY election. Vote for the candidates who have your best interest at heart. Those who will put YOUR money, where their mouth is. Those who will fight for you.

Since this country was formed, our armed forces have fought hard to maintain our rights, among which, is the right to vote. My father was one of them. Women fought and died a hundred years ago so they could vote. Take five minutes out of your day to make a difference.

Your taxpayer dollars are hard at work. But where?

AW, Mountainville
