July 06, 2013

In these tough economic times with the cost of everything, including fireworks, continually rising, COVAC, continuing its effort to serve the greater Cornwall community, donated $1500 toward the 2013 Fireworks Display for purchase of additional fireworks to insure that our community continue to be treated to the outstanding Fireworks Show that we have all come to enjoy and expect.

The donation was greatly appreciated by the Independence Day Committee!

Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps, better known as COVAC, in existence for 58 years, has served the residents of Cornwall, Cornwall on the Hudson, Mountainville (a Hamlet in Town) and assisting surrounding areas by mutual aide, since 1955.

The Corps also covers 40 miles of road including Rt 32, Rt 9W & Interstate 87.

COVAC is one of the few remaining "all Volunteer" Emergency Medical Service 1st response agencies left and COVAC operates a vehicle fleet that consists of 3 Basic Life Support Ambulances a well as 1st response "Fly Car" that responds directly to the scene carrying a qualified medical 1st Responder and appropriate medical equipment, etc, in order to both evaluate the patient(s), and commence appropriate care and treatment prior to arrival of an Ambulance thus permitting a faster life saving course of action.

The Corps has "crewed up" and has responded to every single call within the past ten years, averaging over a thousand calls a year, missing none!

Since its inception Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps has been staffed by caring personnel and today COVAC is staffed by certified emergency medical technicians (EMTs) emergency vehicle operators and attendants - volunteers? each and every one!

COVAC is very diligent in fulfillment of its mission - serving the emergency medical needs of our community.

The Corps highly trained and dedicated personnel make it possible for COVAC to boast of their having proudly earned "Agency of the Year" in 2002, 2003 and most currently in 2011 - a feat yet to be accomplished by any other agency!

COVAC currently has 71 members and is always looking for new members.

COVAC IS A GREAT ORGANIZATION STAFFED WITH GREAT PEOPLE, and along with all the other first responders in our community, they are the "brick & mortar" that hold our society together.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE, SAVE A LIFE - JOIN COVAC!
