General David Petraeus will be in Cornwall on Friday.
June 24, 2010
General David Petraeus may have been walking through the White House on Wednesday, when he was appointed by President Barack Obama to take over command of the U.S. forces in Afghanistan following the forced resignation of General McChrystal, but his staff say that the four-star general still plans on coming to Cornwall on Friday to give the commencement speech at Cornwall Central High School.
High school principal Dr. Frank Sheboy says that as of Wednesday afternoon the plans were still in place for General Petraeus, a 1970 graduate of CCHS, to give the address at the graduation ceremony that will be held at 6 pm.
Tickets to the graduation are limited, but the school has set up a live broadcast of the event that people can watch online here.
The general is also scheduled as the keynote speaker at a luncheon at the Purple Heart Hall of Honor in New Windsor.
