Assemblyman Skoufis Announces Grant for Storm King Fire Engine Company #2
Assemblyman James Skoufis (D-Woodbury) has announced a $65,000 grant to obtain a new vehicle exhaust ventilation system and a new air conditioning system for the Storm King Fire Engine Company #2 in the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson.
A new vehicle exhaust ventilation system that meets current Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) standards will replace the outdated one. It will provide an environment free of particulates and gases from vehicle emissions, making the station safer for firefighters. A new air conditioning system will also replace the existing, inadequate system.
“The new ventilation system will dramatically decrease exposure to vehicle emission toxins for anyone working in or visiting the fire company,” said Assemblyman Skoufis. “Our firefighters put themselves on the line every day and I’m committed to making sure they have the tools they need to be successful and safe.”
“Assemblyman Skoufis’ dedication to the citizens of our community is to be commended,” stated Chief Jeff Armitage and Assistant Chief Mike Trainor. “He has always supported our local firefighters and this grant is just the latest example of his efforts on our behalf.”
