Cornwall Town Board Meeting 9/11/17
by Hannah Comitz

Following this year's 9/11 memorial service, the town held a board meeting. Here multiple issues were discussed.

Munger Cottage Improvements:
Engineers requested the bid opening date be pushed out to September 15th for the opening day at Munger Cottage.

Central Hudson Gas and Electric Rate Increase:
Central Hudson has tried to impose increased gas and electric rates. This is effecting the common costumer. The town board opposes the rates because it is an unfair burden on the people.

Philipstown Cell Tower Application:
Philipstown sent a letter notifying the town and requesting approval to build a wireless telecommunication facility. The request was approved.

Town Hall Paving:
The blacktop in the Town Hall parking lot is being repaved. The board approved the price of the project.

Cornwall United Soccer Club:
The soccer club has requested to use the Laurel Crest fields for a recreational soccer organization. The request was approved.

Cornwall Public Library:
The Cornwall Library contacted the board about 53 chairs they are donating to the Town Hall. Mr. Randazzo said "we thank the library for their donation."

Glendening Letter:
Glendening sent in a letter discussing her extensive historical artifact collection. The board mentioned their excitement to view the collection.

Playground Inspection:
To formalize the monitoring of the play grounds, a proposed policy procedure was approved. The board wants to make sure the children have a safe and enjoyable time. The proposed policy was a recommendation of the town's insurance.

Grants:
The board has been awarded grants for:
-The restoration of Sands Ring Homestead
-The purchase of dump truck and static roller
-Improvements to the Town Hall, Town Recreation Facilities and the Senior Center

The town board will be doing these projects using the grant money. This is a great way to get these important projects done quickly.

Spooktacular:
The Halloween Spooktacular will be held October 28th from 1-4pm on Main Street. Main Street will be closed to traffic on this day.

Christmas Celebration:
The traffic circle and Willow Ave will be closed for the horse and carriage rides. The Christmas tree lighting and holiday celebration will be on December 3rd as well.

BBQ:
The Old Fashion Good Time BBQ will be this Friday from 12:30-2:30. About 93 people will be in attendance.
