RiverFest 2017
by Hannah Comitz

Saturday June 3rd was the perfect weather for this year's RiverFest. The day started for most by hopping on a school bus at one of the many RiverFest stops in town. Many enjoyed this convenience because it made transportation and parking less stressful.

On the busses to the event, little children were buzzing with excitement to be on a school bus for what appeared to be the first time. The first view that was seen, besides the gorgeous river, was a giant American flag hanging from a fire truck. This gigantic flag was waving against the mountains and blue sky in the background, adding to the already breathtaking scene.

The vendors
Booths outlined a giant circle, which had a kids craft area in the center, where volunteers tattooed and painted the faces of little ones. Volunteers from the high school and the community helped throughout the day. A new booth from the high school made an appearance. The Environmental Club from Cornwall Central High School was raising money for a new beautiful garden. A diorama of the garden plans, that was developed by students, was on the table. This showed customers where the money made from plant sales will be going. Other types of booths involved beautiful clothing, decorative jewelry, scented soaps and gorgeous artwork. So many countless items were available for purchase at this event. Vendors of all varieties lined the beautiful river side, giving attendees a wide array of items to choose from.

Food stands, trucks and boats... oh my!
Food trucks and vendors of all different kinds served customers all day. Even a boat made an appearance. The boat was being run by Alumni's of Cornwall, class of 2016. This boat sold tacos fitting its creative name, "Taco Boat". There were so many delicious foods and drinks to choose from. Every stand was offering a unique option. No one could go wrong when choosing from the foods and beverages that were available.
A junior in high school named Hailey Iandiorio, commented on the structure of the event saying it was "very well organized this year." Another great part of this event was the live music being played under the tent giving customers an even more relaxed festival feel next to the picturesque river. This year's River Fest went very well. A young girl named Caroline Shrag replied that this year was even more improved then from years prior. Everyone can agree that next year's River Fest is sure to be another hit!

Lastly, thank you to all the amazing volunteers for giving your time to make this event a success.
