Lions Club Halloween Art Contest

From the Lions Club
The Cornwall Lions will hold its annual Halloween Art Contest from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 25, 2014 along Main Street in town and Hudson Street in the village. The contest is free and children from kindergarten through the sixth grade are eligible.
Arrive early, grab an application form at a distribution area location of your preference:
Village Square Bandstand
or
Town Business District Parking Lot [next to The Dance Design School]
Once completed, you will receive your window assignment, paints and trash bag. Remember to BRING YOUR OWN BRUSHES. Clip the 3x5 card in your kit to the top right-hand corner of your artwork. Be sure your LETTER and NUMBER are showing on the FRONT. Go to your assigned window, mount your canvas and have at it! Please note, storeowners request you refrain from Jackson Pollock-type painting styles!!
Judging will be conducted over the next few days. Winners will be contacted by telephone:
- 1st Prize: $25
- 2nd Prize: $15
Prizes will be awarded in each grade level category:
- Kindergarten
- Grades 1-2
- Grades 3-4
- Grades 5-6
CATEGORIES FOR JUDGING:
Neatness of area [including sidewalk] 10 Points
Use of available space 20 Points
Degree of Difficulty 10 Points
Use of Colors 20 Points
Design/Originality 40 Points
RULES
1, Only those contestants whose name appears on the application form are eligible to participate. Anyone helping or aiding a contestant in any way will result in that contestant being disqualified.
2. DARK COLORED BACKGROUNDS ARE NOT PERMITTED.
3. You can only use the paints supplied to you.
4. BRING YOUR OWN PAINTBRUSHES!!
5. The contest ends at NOON Sharp! Step away from your artwork!
Town and village police will provide patrolmen to help deal with traffic and keep children safe.
The Lions are grateful to local businesses for allowing children to hang their artwork on their windows and for donations of paper and paint. They also extend their appreciation to the town and village police departments.
