Look Up to the Stars!
Explore the Universe with Astronomer Kevin Manning
CORNWALL, NY – On Friday, November 21st , beginning at 5:30 PM, one of America's favorite astronomers and well-known speakers, Kevin Manning, will visit the Cornwall Public Library and present an exciting 1½ hour program for all ages. Come learn about the size and scale of the universe, the stars, and other celestial wonders using hands-on activities and engaging visuals. Have a look through a powerful telescope that will be set up to view the craters on the Moon, the rings of Saturn and other beautiful objects in the night sky, weather permitting. Find a refreshing escape into galaxies beyond your own, as Manning ignites curiosity and guides your exploration into our universe.
In addition to lecturing across our nation, Manning has worked as a consultant with NASA, the Chandra X-Ray Observatory launched on the space shuttle with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, other ground-based observatories, and with Brookhaven National Laboratory. He has presented workshops and lectures over the years at libraries, public schools, observatories, and science centers, including Tufts University, the State University of New York at Stony Brook, the NSTA National Convention, AAAS Breakfast with Scientists, and the National Parks Service. Kevin goes to great lengths to communicate his passion for the amazing world of outer space in terms that all ages can understand. Whether he's lecturing, consulting, teaching people how to build telescopes or helping to build observatories, one of his favorite things to do is to share his contagious enthusiasm and knowledge of Astronomy.
