Hike with your Assemblyman Event

ASSEMBLYMAN SCHMITT ANNOUNCES HIKE WITH YOUR ASSEMBLYMAN AT BLACK ROCK FOREST

Washingtonville, NY -- (10/29/19) Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt (R,C,I-New Windsor) is pleased to announce that his Hike with your Assemblyman Event in partnership with Black Rock Forest is set for Sunday, November 10th from 10am-12pm.

Assemblyman Schmitt, an avid hiker, is inviting constituents to join him on an easy to moderate guided hike to explore Black Rock Forest with Executive Director, William Schuster, PhD to learn about how the forest and its inhabitants transition into the winter months.

Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt stated, “I am proud to be partnering with Black Rock Forest to offer my constituents a chance to join me for a hike and experience one of the 99th Assembly Districts most renowned hiking trails. People come from all over the world to hike in our Assembly District and I am proud to highlight these trails and celebrate them with my new “hike with your Assemblyman” initiative. There is no better way to start your Sunday than out in the fresh air hiking our local trails, bring the whole family and join me!”

William Schuster, PhD, Executive Director, Black Rock Forest stated, “Join us for a guided hike in our 3,914 acres of Forest – which serves students, scientists, and recreational visitors. We will walk and talk about the forest and trees during this transitional season as well as learn about some of the environmental research projects underway here at the forest. I look forward to sharing the trails with Assemblyman Schmitt, a frequent visitor to our trails, and his constituents.”

Amanda Dana, Director, Orange County Tourism stated, “Assemblyman Schmitt's Hike with your Assemblyman event is a great way to connect with local residents while also promoting tourism in the Hudson Valley. This guided hike will be both educational and interactive and will appeal to many in his district as the Assemblyman shares his love of the outdoors with his constituents. Assemblyman Schmitt has always been a strong supporter of Orange County Tourism and we are happy to continue to support him with events like these!"

Glenn Oleksak, Highlands Trail Chair, New York New Jersey Trail Conference stated, "I am so proud to be joining Assemblyman Schmitt on his hike as a representative of the Highlands Trail on behalf of the NYNJTC. Assemblyman Schmitt has developed a strong working partnership with the NYNJTC to ensure that the trails and nature areas we share are sustainable and accessible for all to enjoy for generations to come. Colin Schmitt is committed to public service. Colin is a member of the U.S. Army National Guard and Assemblyman for the 99th NYS Assembly District which includes the Town of Stony Point in Rockland County and The Towns of Wawayanda, Goshen, Hamptonburgh, Chester, Blooming Grove, New Windsor, Cornwall, Highlands and Woodbury in Orange County. Colin lives in the Town of New Windsor with his wife Nikki and their beloved adopted Catahoula puppy Quincy!
