Feingold to present on the transportation revolution
CORNWALL, NY – The Cornwall Public Library is once again hosting presenter Rick Feingold, Professor of American History at Bergen Community College. Feingold will give a lecture in the library community room entitled The Transportation Revolution of the 1800s on Tuesday, November 20 at 6:00pm. The American transportation revolution made possible the expansion of trade and the way of life we know today. Learn about the Erie Canal and the great canal building era in the northeast, using the steam engine to power boats upstream and building the early toll roads in the new republic. Feingold will discuss steam locomotives and the packet trade of regularly scheduled cargo and passenger ships sailing between Great Britain and the United States. This is a free, drop-in program.
