Jonathan Dunaief took his camera out on Tuesday night to capture the images of the light shows atop mountains from Bear Mountain and Storm King to Mount Beacon and Snake Hill. (Read more about the beacon display here.)
He writes that it was cold but worth every minute of shivering as he tried to hold the camera steady for long exposures.
“This was great fun and a great learning experience, as I needed to set the camera for manual exposure and focus,” he said.
The photos were taken in two locations. The first was at the parking area on the goat path looking at Bear Mountain.
The photos with the clear V shape showing the source of the spotlights are of Bear Mountain.
The second location was from the High Point on Rt. 218. The photos taken there show Newburgh and Bannerman’s Island in the background.
Another shot was taken looking directly across the river from High Point.
