Cornwall Fourth of July Celebration 2018
By Hannah Comitz

This year the schedule was filled with events beginning at 7am. The breakfast at the fire hall started the day with bringing the community together for a delicious meal.
The pet show had a large turn out this year. Dogs of all types were dressed in their best patriotic bandanas and costumes. The crowd developed around the stage to watch the adorable dogs show off.

Starting at 10am vendors set up stands to sell crafts and merchandise. Unfortunately the craft sale was cut short due to the thunder storm in the mid afternoon. The skies opened up for half an hour, stranding some people at the library and other shelters in town. The thunderstorm did not stop the community from celebrating. As soon as the thunder rolled away the town continued to celebrate Independence Day.

The thunder and lightening only delayed the parade 15 minutes before it made its way down Main Street. Floats from an array of organizations and town groups paraded down the street. There were notable ballon displays and confetti explosions. The 2018 senior float was filled to the max with graduated students celebrating Independence Day. Later in the parade community members sprayed the students with a hose, drenching everyone aboard the float.

Despite the weather, the storm did not stop the firework show. People of all ages found spots on the grass to sit down and enjoy the display.
Although the weather was not perfect, this years Independence Day went very well. It was another successful year that the community should be proud of. Thank you to all who helped the celebration come together.
