Obituaries: Henry F. Malanowski

April 09, 2018

 HENRY F. MALANOWSKI
December8, 1939 – April 6, 2018
Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY

Henry F. Malanowski of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, passed away on April 6, 2018. He was 78 years old. The fiercely devoted son of Henry (Sr.) and Sally Malanowski, he was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1939.

Hard-working and selfless, family always came first to Henry. He was an enamored husband to Victoria Malanowski (his blind date that became his best friend and love of his life); proud father of James (Jen) Malanowski, Nancie (Bill) Tindale and Paul (Erin) Malanowski; loving grandfather to Matthew, Julianne, Miles, Cooper, Hudson and Kasha (Malanowski), Noah and Micah (Tindale), Anna, Kyra and Liam (Malanowski); and big brother to Barbara Lamour and Anita Vorwig. Just second to family was Henry’s large group of friends, including many relationships spanning 40 years or more.

Henry was affable and witty and could relate to and talk with anybody, any time – he truly had the gift of gab. He was a natural salesman who sincerely cared about his customers, starting with his passengers from the Mid-City Coaches, which he and his dad owned, in Yonkers, NY, through the 30+ years selling forklifts and other heavy equipment for companies like Hyster, Modern Handling and Orange Handling, and his days driving for Leprechaun and West Point Military Academy. He always gave extra without being asked.

Henry served as a Chaplain’s assistant for the US Army from 1959-1962, which included time stationed in Germany. Henry had a strong faith and was an active member of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.

The Malanowski family would like to thank the nurses and other tireless staff at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY, for their generous personal attention and care. The teams on floors 2, 3 and 5 made Henry and his family truly feels at home during a most difficult time. They also would like to thank the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence for their warmth, guidance and love during Henry’s last days.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson St, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY 12520. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Henry’s name can be made to St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation, 70 Dubois Street, Newburgh, NY 12550, or the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, 1 Sunrise Lane, Newburgh, 12550.

Arrangements are entrusted to Quigley Bros. Funeral Home; to send condolences or to get directions to the funeral home, please go to www.Quigleybros.com
