Obituaries: Timothy Harding

September 16, 2017

Timmy Harding, formerly of Cornwall, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at his home in Florida. He was 54 years old.

The son of Patrick Joseph Harding and the late Maurie Panzer Harding, Tim was one of twins born on November 17, 1962 at St. John’s Hospital in Yonkers, NY. His twin, Kathleen Ann, passed away at the age of 7 in 1970.

Timmy grew up on Jackson Avenue, in New Windsor, and attended Cornwall schools, where he gained a well-deserved reputation as an extraordinary athlete, playing football, baseball, and basketball. Later in life, his natural sporting talents led him to golf, which he played equally well. Tim graduated from CCHS in 1981 and attended the University of Buffalo on a baseball scholarship. Tim also had a creative and artistic side, which enhanced his career with ASE Security of Doral, Florida, where he was Vice President of Sales, designing and implementing large security systems.

Tim met Robin Paley Harding, his soulmate and the love of his life, in 1986 at Painters Tavern. They shared 32 happy years living, laughing, and loving together, in Cornwall, in Coconut Creek, at the beach, and on the ski slopes.

Timmy was a force of nature, always larger than life. Wherever he went, fun and laughter ensued. He had a great love for his many friends, and he never failed to reach out a helping hand to friend, neighbor, and stranger alike. He was a passionate animal lover and devoted to his dogs, Lexi and Peyton.

In addition to his father, Tim is survived by his sisters, Mary Harding Kramer and Margaret Harding Vatter; brother-in-law, Robert Vatter; sister-in-law, Denise Coleman Harding; sister-in-law, Dianne Paley Gerrits, and her husband, Mike; brother-in-law, Steve; Robin’s parents, Bernice and Gary Paley; and Sean, Ryan, Keri, Emily, Amelia, Colin, Drew, Sophia, Graham, Gillian, Connor, Donovan, Owen, and Keegan.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 17th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 18th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY; Fr. Rees Doughty will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions in Tim’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza – Suite 203, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-0075
