Obituaries: John B. "Jack" Edsall, Jr.

John B. “Jack” Edsall, Jr., of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY entered into eternal rest on September 6, 2017 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY with his family by his side. He was 85 years old.

The son of the late John B. Edsall, Sr. and Sadie (O’Mara) Edsall, Jack was born on September 20, 1931 in Cornwall, NY.

Jack was a retired Accounting Clerk for the Commissary at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY.

Jack honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Jack was a past President and long–time member of the Highland Engine Company No. 1 of the Cornwall Fire Department and a member of the New York Department of the American Legion. A family statement reads: “Jack loved spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren, and relaxing at the riverfront park in the Village of Cornwall on Hudson”. He will be missed greatly.

Jack was predeceased by his wife, Jeanette G. (Helbing) Edsall. He is survived by devoted friend, Nancy McGuire of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY; his sons: Mike (Michele) Edsall of Cornwall, NY, Mark (Maureen) Edsall of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY; 4 grandchildren: Bridget (Dan) Lennon, Erika (Matt) Luksa, James, and Karin; and 2 great-grandchildren: McClain and Niamh.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 10th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 11th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Interment with Military Honors will follow the Mass at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall, NY.

Memorial Contributions in Jack’s name may be made to Highland Engine Co. #1, 1 Quaker Avenue, Cornwall, NY 12518.
