Eileen DeFreest Rosman, 69, a retired Nurse and resident of High Falls, NY died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Healthcare Alliance Hospital, Kingston, NY. She was the wife of the late Jerod A. Rosman, who passed in 2008.
She was born on June 1, 1948 in Albany, New York to Herbert E. DeFreest, Jr. and Eileen O’Brien DeFreest. Eileen grew up in Cornwall, NY and attended school there. She attended several colleges and obtained an Associates and Bachelor’s degrees. She was active in sports, Girl Scouts and always involved with children as a Camp Counselor and leading sports clinics.
Eileen relocated to Albany, NY where she met her husband Jerod, a widower with seven children. They married and journeyed to Washington State with their children in tow. She is also survived by her cousins Joyce Hamm Sontag of Yonkers, NY; Laurene O’Brien of Clifton Park, NY; Mary Pat Chamberlain of Loudonville, NY. She had many nieces and nephews.
Eileen had a lifelong career in human services. She received the most gratification from her nursing education and career which she achieved later in life. She was a member of Daughters of American Revolution, On-ti-ora Chapter. She had a passion for researching genealogy of her family. She loved dogs which led her to become involved in Canine Companions for Independence.
In recent years, the Synergy Education Program was a large and important part of Eileen’s life. Her transformation from this program brought her closer to those she loved and opened many special connections and opportunities to live her life powerfully with joy and love.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sheran, Dr. Cutugno and the amazing and wonderful staff of Kingston Hospital’s Oncology Unit for their sensitive care and professionalism.
