Obituaries: Anne R. Zupitza

July 14, 2017

Anne R. Zupitza was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 5, 1933. A beautiful loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away at home in the loving care of her aides and family on July 7, 2017. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; her daughter, Karen Bergin; and her grandson, Robert Zupitza.

Anne grew up in Brooklyn, NY where she met and married her husband, Joseph, of 60 years. They raised four children in Brooklyn, enjoying many summers at Breezy Point Surf Club. They later moved to Cornwall, NY where they ran their business “The Little Store” on Angola Road for 20 years. This is where Anne’s cooking talents were able to shine. She enjoyed traveling with their motor home whenever possible and spending time on their boat as members of the Cornwall Yacht Club. She treasured family more than anything.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph Zupitza, loving mother of Joanne Decker and her husband, Steve; son-in-law, Kenneth Bergin; Robert Zupitza and his wife, Therese; and Lynne Schweizer and her husband, Scott. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren; Stephen Decker and his wife, Meghan; William Bergin and his wife, Emily; Dana Zupitza; Sean Bergin and his wife, Katie; Ryan Decker, Joseph Zupitza, Jessica Bergin, Matthew Schweizer and his wife, Melanie; Kaylee Bergin, Brien Schweizer; and John Zupitza; four great grandchildren, Brooklyn Bergin, Eden Schweizer, Benjamin Bergin and Kennedy Bergin.

Fortunately, Alzheimer’s never stole Anne’s strongest abilities to mother, love, nurture, be a friend, make us laugh and even how content she was to sit twiddling her thumbs looking out the window, appreciating the beauty of God’s earth.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 15th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson NY. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.

Memorial Contributions in Anne’s name can be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 203, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Arrangements are entrusted to Quigley Bros. Funeral Home; to send condolences or to get directions to the funeral home, please go to www.Quigleybros.com
