Obituaries: Patricia A. Cody

May 07, 2017

Patricia A. Cody, a longtime Cornwall resident, died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 4th, 2017. She was 64 years old.

The daughter of the late James and Phyllis Creagan, she was born on December 4th, 1952 in Bronxville, NY.

“Pat” or “Patty”, as she was lovingly known by many, graduated from Maria Regina High School in Hartsdale, NY and later graduated from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. She married her late husband, Robert Cody, on November 2, 1974 and settled in Cornwall to raise her two sons. Pat spent many years working with children, first with the Westchester County Department of Social Services, then at Canterbury Nursery School in Cornwall, and for the last several years as a Teacher’s Aide at Highland Falls Intermediate School. Pat cared deeply for her students and co-workers, spending many a night preparing review material, or cooking her latest recipe for “Payday Breakfast”.

At home, Mom loved to cook, and could always be counted on to have a hot meal on the table regardless of the various activities that her family had going on. Mom enjoyed watching her sons compete in athletics, and spent many summers chauffeuring various baseball teams to and from games and tournaments.

Survivors include her sons, Patrick and Kyle Cody, both of Cornwall, NY; brothers, Michael Creagan and his wife Carol, of University Heights, OH, and Daniel Creagan and his wife Barbara of Cornwall, NY; nieces and nephews, Kelly Robinson, Kristine Syrvalin, Michael Creagan Jr., James Creagan and Maureen Kuinlan; as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. JK Rasamny, Dr. Jeffrey Vainshtein, Laurie Wennerholm, as well as the rest of the doctors and nurses at The Dickstein Cancer Center at White Plains Hospital that took such amazing care of Patty over the course of the last year. Also, a special thank you to her loving caregivers, Natasha and Edith, who made her last couple of weeks at home as comfortable as possible.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 8 from 4-7pm at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Avenue A, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Pat’s memory be made to the Thyroid, Head and Neck Cancer Foundation, PO Box 1021, New York, NY 10276, or online at thancfoundation.org.
