Arrests
04/29/17 Bairon M Montenegro, age 47, of Cornwall, NY was arrested and charged with DWI.
Incidents
04/25/17 A caller reported that her digital camera worth approximately $490 was missing from her luggage delivered by Norwegian Airline service.
04/26/17 A caller reported that subjects were going door to door soliciting on Mineral Springs. All subjects were advised.
04/27/17 A caller stated that there was a raccoon on his railing of his porch “threatening him” and would not let him out of the front door. Officers responded to the scene and advised the raccoon which ran off in an unknown direction.
04/28/17 A caller stated that a bunch of middle schoolers were harassing the swan. Police responded but the children were gone and swan was not in distress.
04/30/17 A caller stated that she picked up a loose dog, a male brown and white short haired pointer. The dog was transported to Woodbury Animal Shelter.
04/30/17 A caller stated that he located what he believed to be marijuana plants growing on the edge of his property. Field testing of common backyard weed was negative for THC.
05/01/17 On May 1, 2017 at approximately 9 PM the Town of Cornwall Police Department received a call about a motorcycle crash in which a passenger and the writer went over the guard rail on state Route 218. Upon arrival of officers it was learned that a 2014 Suzuki motorcycle operated by Stephen Nemeth age 23 of Highland Mills crashed and the passenger who was riding on the back; Meagan Carson age 21 of Middletown was thrown over the guard rail when she was ejected over the off the motorcycle. Nemeth then jumped over the guard rail in an effort to render aid to Carson. Both Carson and Nemeth were brought back up to Route 218 by the Cornwall Fire Department who performed a rope rescue. Both Carson and Nemeth were transported to Saint Luke's Hospital and Carson was later transferred to Westchester Medical Center. Nemeth who did not possess a motorcycle license was issued a summons for operating out of class and his motorcycle was impounded. Two other motorcyclists who were traveling with Nemeth also did not have motorcycle licenses. They were also issued summonses and had their motorcycles impounded as well.
