CCHS BRINGS AUDIENCE CLOSE TO ACTION WITH INNOVATIVE STAGING FOR "TWELVE ANGRY JURORS," "TWELVE ANGRY WOMEN"

CORNWALL, NY – Taking a page from modern fly-on-the-wall reality shows, but stepping back into the past to do it, Cornwall Central High School's award-winning Drama Club brings two versions of the riveting classic courtroom drama "Twelve Angry Jurors" and "Twelve Angry Women" to the CCHS stage in the round on Nov. 3-6, 2016, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, with a matinee performance beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students, and are available at the door on the day of the performances. Because seating will be limited, we encourage you to call 845-614-5543 to reserve your seats prior to the performance date(s).

Offering their mixed and all-female interpretations of Sherman L. Sergel's stage adaptation of Reginald Rose's teleplay, two complete casts will alternate performance nights as they bring the audience up close to examine the prejudices, fears, and moral fiber of 12 strangers who come together in the jury room on a sweltering day in the mid-1950s to debate the truth in what appears to be an open-and-shut death penalty case. Although set in the past, the cultural bias underlying their heated discussion of the 19-year-old inner-city youth accused of murdering his abusive father is unfortunately still all-too-relevant, and the powerful script is as moving today as it was when it was first released.

"This is a first for us, and we are excited with the prospect of bringing the audience directly onstage into the Jury Room, as the fate of one man is determined," says Aufiero. "Although they do not have a vote, the audience will serve as the alternate juror, taking in the action like never before. Let the deliberations begin!"

The cast for "Twelve Angry Jurors," will appear Thursday and Saturday, Nov. 3 and 5, and the cast for “Twelve Angry Women” will appear Friday and Sunday, Nov. 4 and 6. Both casts are directed by Rich Aufiero, ably assisted by Corinne Aufiero, Tony Ravinsky, Eileen Zwart, Sean Dougherty, John Hines, John Fay and Dominique Haynes, with set and lighting designed by Tony Ravinsky. A special note of thanks goes out to PRG of New Windsor, for all of their assistance.

All performances will take place in the CCHS auditorium at 10 Dragon Drive, New Windsor, NY 12553. For more information and/or ticket reservations, contact 845-614-5543.
