Notes from the October 2015 Town Work Session

Storm King Golf Course, NYMA update, and St. Luke’s Hospital Update.

CORNWALL, NY - On Monday, October 5th, the Town Board held its monthly Work Session.

The Session began with a young, Australian, couple, from New York City, presenting a proposal of what they hope to accomplish if they purchase the Storm King Golf Course. The presentation was strictly to gauge community reaction, and they have not made an official offer on the golf course. Their hope is to not just restore the golf course to its former glory, but to turn the property into a Members-Only, “Health Retreat”. It would be specifically geared towards 25-45 year old professionals from the City. They hope to revamp the current Clubhouse into a dining hall and collaborative workspace. Their hope is to put Cornwall on the map again. The only hurdle they have to jump through is the stipulations from the Stillman family.

NYMA was auctioned on September 30th as scheduled. A Chinese based, real estate company, SouFun Holdings, won the bid at $15.8 million. The morning of October 5th, the funds were provided to the bank.
St. Luke’s Hospital in Cornwall will be partnering with Montefiore Medical Center. St. Luke’s will remain the same, Montefiore is just a “parent” partner.

The 2nd annual “Zombie Walk” will be on October 17th. Dress as a Zombie, or Zombie Hunter and purchase your Zombie or Hunter wristband for $1. All proceeds will be donated to the local Animal Shelter.
Also, on October 17th, from 9-2, the Girl Scouts are hosting a yard sale at the Girl Scout Cabin.
