Incidents

01/05/15 Police take a report of fraud. A victim made a purchase over the phone with her Visa with a Chicago area store and charges in the same area were made on her card as well.
01/10/15 A woman was solicited by a contractor then made arrangements to have her chimney swept. When the service arrived at her home she became suspicious that they were not legitimate because they arrived in a rental van and their business phone number was not in service.

*Note from Police: Residents are reminded that reputable contractors do not call offering repairs unsolicited. Most contractors who are legitimate rely on the 3 R’s:
1.Reputation
2.Referrals
3.Repeat Customers
Do not do business with contractors who make cold calls.
